Year 6 Sister Cities Writing Contest
Council conducted its second Year 6 Writing Contest with students in all primary schools within the Blacktown LGA invited to explain in 50 words or less, what the 4 themes of Diversity, Culture, Unity and Friendship meant to them. Winning entrants and runners-up received a Hoyts movie voucher or Featherdale Wildlife Park pass. A big thank you to our supporters and members of the Sister Cities Committee who judged all the entries.
Winning schools (two per ward) received a $100 gift voucher to purchase educational items.
The entries received from 29 primary schools in 2015 and 2016 means that nearly 40% of our primary schools have participated in the contest to date. A fantastic response but this would not have been possible without the support of principals, staff and parents. Finally, a big thanks you to all the students who entered.
Keep an eagle eye out for the 2017 contest which promises to be bigger and better.
