Nominate a local sporting champ for a Sportsperson of the Month Award!

Blacktown City is home to many keen sports enthusiasts and each month Blacktown City Council recognises their sporting achievements with the Sportsperson of the Month Awards.

"The Sports Awards are the perfect opportunity to acknowledge and recognise the effort and time people put into their sport", Mayor of Blacktown City, Councillor Stephen Bali said.

The Sports Awards have been operating since 1983 and recognise the City's sports men, women, boys and girls in the following categories:

  • Sportsperson of the Month
  • Junior Sportsperson of the Month
  • Coach of the Year
  • Team of the Year
  • Sports Administrator of the Year
  • Volunteer of the Year
  • Club of the Year

Nominations are open to people of all ages from across the Blacktown City Local Government Area, and are encouraged from the local community for deserving sports people or those who are heavily involved in the administration of their sport.

Winners of the Sportsperson and Junior Sportsperson categories are announced each month at the prestigious Sports Awards of the Month presentation, which is held on the last Thursday of each month at Westpoint Blacktown On Four.

"We know for a fact that there are a large number of fantastic sportspeople in Blacktown City and the Sports Awards highlights this", Mayor of Blacktown City, Councillor Stephen Bali said.

All of the Sportsperson of the Month winners and category nominees are then invited to the annual Sports Awards Gala Presentation night held in February each year. At this presentation overall winners for the respective year are awarded, i.e. Sportsperson of the Year.
