There are many different ways that young people can actively participate in their community. Some of the opportunities in Blacktown City include:
National Youth Week, The BURBS Festival
National Youth Week runs in April every year. It is Australia’s biggest celebration of youth and is celebrated in Local Governments across Australia.
Blacktown celebrates National Youth Week through The BURBS festival. A series of events, programs and activities run by youth and youth organisations, catering to the needs and interests of Blacktown’s Youth.
The 2017 Burbs festival will run from 31 March to 9 April 2017. Go to www.youthweek.nsw.gov.au to stay up to date with all the programs as they come to hand.
Blacktown Youth Advisory Committee (YAC)
YAC is a group of 12 young people aged 12-24 years old that meet monthly to represent youth priorities to Council. If you love having a say, want to learn more about government and are committed to representing youth, this committee is for you!
