Council's Urban Animal Management Section administers legislation governing companion animals in order to keep our community safe, free from nuisance and to assist owners in being reunited with their lost pet. Council also provides opportunity for unclaimed strays to be sold or rehomed in order that they may again find someone to care for them.
Council acts primarily as a regulatory body not as a welfare agency. Should you be concerned about the welfare of any animal, please contact the RSPCA. If you have found an injured native animal please contact the NSW Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service (WIRES) on 13 000 WIRES (1300 094 737) or visit www.wires.org.au.
