About the Facility

Blacktown City Council acts as a holding facility or pound for other Councils in the Sydney region, these Councils being:

  • Auburn Council
  • City of Canada Bay Council
  • Holroyd City Council
  • The Municipality of Hunters Hill
  • Lane Cove Council
  • Parramatta City Council
  • The City of Ryde

If you have lost a dog, cat or other animal in any of these council areas, you can search our PetsOnline database to see if it is being held at the centre.

Surrendering an Animal

Companion animal owners are able to voluntarily surrender their cat or dog to Council's Holding Facility upon the completion of a surrender form. Fees are applicable for the use of this service.

Blacktown residents may opt to voluntarily surrender their cat or dog at their place of residence. Cats must be securely contained in a box or basket that provides adequate ventilation. A surrender form must be completed at the time of removal. Fees are applicable for the use of this service.
