Greystanes Creek
Greystanes Creek extends from the eastern end of Prospect Reservoir, through to its confluence with Toongabbie Creek, and borders the edge of the Blacktown City and Holroyd City boundaries. It contains significant stands of endangered ecological communities along its length and provides some nice locations for outdoor activities.
A ripple effect along the base of the creek helps to calm the water flow.
The vegetation found along the creek line is Shale Plains Woodland and Alluvial Woodland. Species include Cabbage Gums, Casuarina glauca, Eucalyptus tereticornis, Eucalyptus amplifolia and Melaleuca linarifolia. The creekline has been colonised with sedges and rushes such as Juncus and Phragmites.
Extensive regeneration work has seen good results along the creek.
The Greystanes Creek Management Committee meet regularly to undertake regeneration and revegetation activities along Greystanes Creek in Toongabbie. Please contact Holroyd City Council for workdays.
The pathways along the creek provide an ideal spot for a relaxing walk or ride.
