Plumpton Park
Located on Hyatts Rd, Plumpton, this park is significant as it contains both a flora reserve, which contains many regionally significant plants, and a wetland, which is used by over 10 different species of water birds to nest and feed.
Plumpton park contains picnic tables and walking tracks in a pleasant surrounding
The large diversity and presence of a number of regionally significant flora species within this reserve make it a good example of Shale Plains Woodland and Shale-Gravel Transition Forest. The vegetation is primarily Grey Box open forest with scattered Forest Red Gums. Blackthorn (Bursaria spinosa) is dominant in the shrub layer, with Grevillea juniperina, Dillwynia juniperina and Pultenaea microphylla also present. Ground species include Goodenia hederacea, Vittadinia cuneata and Chloris truncata.
Plumpton park has facilities ideal for a picnic
The wetland within Plumpton Park was constructed in 1993. It is designed to reduce flood peaks, improve water quality, provide habitat for aquatic wildlife and waterbirds and enhance recreational facilities.
