Aquilina Reserve
Aquilina Reserve is located on Eastern Rd at Rooty Hill. It was the location for softball, baseball and athletics activities and competition in the Sydney 2000 Olympics, and contains excellent sporting facilities as well as significant stands of remnant vegetation. Aquilina Reserve is also located along the Eastern Creek corridor, which extends 25km from Dean Park in the north to Hoxton Park in the south.
Revegetation works along the creekline have been undertaken.
Two significant vegetation communities feature at Aquilina Reserve. At the Eastern end of the reserve, adjacent to Eastern Creek, remnant Alluvial Woodland can be found. This area contains species such as Angophora floribunda and Acacia decurrens.
A section of the uncommon cabbage gum woodland found at the reserve.
There is also a large stand of Cabbage Gum Woodland, with a scattered understorey of Melaleuca spp. and Carex appressa. This type of vegetation is uncommon in Western Sydney, and as such has high conservation significance.
