The "Keep it Clean" Stormwater Monitoring and Education Project was a joint project between Blacktown City Council and Westfield Mt Druitt. This project was developed to ensure that runoff from the shopping complex was not affecting the health of Ropes Creek, a key local waterway. Drain stencilling was a key activity of the "Keep it Clean" Stormwater Monitoring and Education Project. Thirteen million people pass through the shopping centre every year so the stencilling of drains would reach a large number of people with a variety of messages.
