Our Environment
Protection and enhancement of the environment is a high priority in Blacktown.
Council takes a proactive approach to managing the environment - ensuring today's development allows tomorrow's residents to enjoy the City's unique features. The programs and projects initiated by Council promote the concept of a collaborative approach amongst stakeholders to enhancing the environment of the City of Blacktown.
Historically, Blacktown has played a leading role in introducing direct intervention programs such as environmental auditing or soil and erosion control in conjunction with advocating greater environmental accountability through working with external agencies such as the NSW Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water, Department of Water and Energy, and the former Hawkesbury Nepean Catchment Management Trust.
Council is dedicated to working with the community to educate residents about the benefits of ensuring water quality in waterways is enhanced through its Community and Schools Stormwater Education Programs.
Council recently developed an
Environmental Sustainability Framework (2428 kb)
