Clean Up Australia Day

CUAD.jpg

Clean Up Australia Day is Australia's largest environmental community event. Blacktown City Council has participated in every Clean Up Australia Day since its inception in 1989, providing volunteers with the support and equipment necessary for the biggest clean up event of the year.

Council's Community Enhancement Officers coordinate the event and over the years thousands of volunteers have cleaned up hundreds of sites, including schools, bushland and waterways.

Each year Council also nominates Closed Sites throughout the City to target areas where large amounts of rubbish have been dumped.

In 2004 Council won the inaugural Waste Services NSW Award for Council's outstanding involvement in Clean Up Australia Day 2003.

Clean Up Australia Day is held on the 1st Sunday in March every year. For more information, please visit www.cleanup.com.au or contact Council's Community Enhancement Officers on 9839 6000.
