Bidwill Community Garden, Bidwill

The Bidwill Community Garden is located in Chestnut Crescent, Bidwill (the nearest cross street is Elata Way).

The Community Garden was established in 2001 and involves partnerships between Blacktown City Council, the NSW Department of Housing, the Botanic Gardens Trust, the NSW Department of Juvenile Justice, community groups and volunteers.

What's at the garden?

The Bidwill Community Garden has a number of themed garden beds of edible and non-edible plants, including a vegetable garden, a rose bed, a native patch and even a vineyard!

The Garden has received a number of grants to make it as water-wise as possible. The garden features a drip irrigation system, a waterless composting toilet and a rainwater tank.

How can I get involved?

The Garden has regular working bees during the week and on weekends. The garden is always looking for new volunteers and there are usually plenty of fresh vegetables for volunteers to take home. It's an opportunity to learn new skills, enjoy fresh produce and meet people from the local area.

The Garden hosts regular school holiday events during the year and workshops such as no-dig gardening. Each year, the Bidwill Community Garden holds a twilight Christmas event in the garden. Everyone is welcome.
