Oasis Community Garden, Toongabbie/ Seven Hills
The Oasis Community Garden is located in Rossvale Street, Toongabbie/Seven Hills (off Ross Street).
Work on the Garden began in 2001 through partnerships between Blacktown City Council, the NSW Department of Housing, the Botanic Gardens Trust, the Toongabbie/Seven Hills Neighbourhood Cottage, community groups and volunteers. The Garden was officially launched in March 2006 to a very receptive local community.
What's at the garden?
The Oasis Community Garden has a contemporary multi-purpose design, suitable to be used for passive recreation, planting and weeding activities, events and BBQs. The garden is predominantly ornamental but also includes a vegetable growing section.
How can I get involved?
The Oasis Community Garden is always looking for new volunteers to get involved. It's an opportunity to learn new gardening skills, meet people from the local community and to enjoy some fresh local produce.
The garden hosts regular school holiday activities and working bees to encourage the community to make use of the beautiful flower garden created by local residents. 'Spring Fair' is held each year in the October school holidays and everyone is welcome. Community groups and residents are also able to use the Garden to hold meetings or events after making appropriate arrangements with the Garden Committee.
