Bidwill Community Garden, Bidwill
The Bidwill Community Garden is located in Chestnut Crescent, Bidwill (the nearest cross street is Elata Way).
The Garden was established in 2001 and involves partnerships between Blacktown City Council, the NSW Department of Housing, the Botanic Gardens Trust, the NSW Department of Juvenile Justice, community groups and volunteers.
The Bidwill Community Garden has a number of themed garden beds of edible and non-edible plants, including a rose bed, a native patch, and a vineyard! The Garden hosts regular school holiday events, BBQs, and GRUB demonstrations. New volunteers are always welcome, and there are usually plenty of fresh vegies for helpers to take home.
The Garden has recently received a number of grants to make it as water-wise as possible. A drip irrigation system and a waterless composting toilet are the latest additions to the garden, with a rainwater tank and water-saving murals to follow soon. Why not pop by to be inspired?
For more information, or if you would like to volunteer at the Garden, please contact Council's Community Enhancement Officers on 9839 6000.
