Edmund Rice Community Pride Nursery, Bidwill
The Edmund Rice Community Pride Nursery is located at 8 Oreades Way, Bidwill. It is open on Wednesdays and Fridays between 9.30 am and 12.00 pm.
The nursery was established in 2005 and is run by volunteers with support from Blacktown City Council, the NSW Department of Housing, the Botanic Gardens Trust, Eden Gardens Lane Cove, the Christian Brothers, and the Probation and Parole Service.
The nursery cultivates plants from donated cuttings and seedlings, and the propagated plants are given to local Mt Druitt region residents free of charge. The volunteers at the nursery are able to provide expert advice to help save sick pot plants, as well as how to care for the plants they give away. The nursery aims to increase community pride by encouraging people to take up gardening, and by providing residents with a practical opportunity to work with others.
Volunteers, seeds and cuttings are always wanted!
