Environmental Expo
Council hosts an Environmental Expo each year. In 2009 the Environmental Expo will again be held in conjunction with the Blacktown City Festival on Saturday 30 May. The Expo provides an opportunity for residents to have fun while learning how to live more sustainably in our local environment.
At the Environmental Expo residents have the opportunity to learn more about reducing their impact on the environment.
Information stalls and displays cover a range of topics, including
- Water conservation
- Energy savings
- Waste reduction and recycling
- Worm farming and composting
- Non toxic cleaning
- Bushcare and gardening
- Rainwater tanks
- Responsible pet ownership
There are FREE Sustainable Living Workshops. They run for 30 minutes and take place throughout the day. Topics covered include;
- Natural Cleaning
- No Dig Gardening
- Home Worm Faming
- Chooks in backyards
- Backyard composting
Representatives from Council, as well as external organisation are invited to participate. Including Sydney Water Streamwatch, BP Solar, Featherdale Wildlife Park, Blacktown and District Environment Group, Greening Australia and the Ethnic Communities Council.
