Councillor Charlie Lowles and Councillor Len Robinson acknowledged for over 20 years’ service to Local Government

Blacktown City Mayor, Councillor Charlie Lowles, and Ward 2 representative, Councillor Len Robinson have both been recognised by the Local Government and Shires Association (LGSA) for their dedication of over 20 years service to Local Government.

Both Councillor Lowles and Councillor Robinson were awarded with Outstanding Service Awards at the 2009 Local Government Conference in Tamworth on Sunday, October 25, 2009 for each completing at least 20 years of service to local government in NSW.

Councillor Charlie Lowles has served the Blacktown City community at Council for 20 years this year, serving as Mayor twice during the period 1995-1999 and from 2008-present. Councillor Lowles has a very strong commitment to serving not only the Ward 5 community but also the broader Blacktown City community. In his 20 years, he has played an instrumental role in numerous projects, particularly in leading the Council when Council become debt free in 1998 and also securing Blacktown Olympic Park as a venue for the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.

Councillor Len Robinson was first elected to Council in 1987, representing over 20 years' service the Blacktown City community. During this time, Councillor Robinson has served his community in a variety of ways including as a member of Council's Planning and Development Committee where he has brought a practical perspective to the implementation of planning proposals.

"I am honoured to receive such a prestigious award," Mayor of Blacktown City, Councillor Charlie Lowles.

"I would also like to congratulate my fellow colleague, Len Robinson who has brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to Council and who has served his community exceptionally well for over 20 years, Mayor Lowles said.
