2008 Blacktown City Community Calendar

Thursday, November 1, 2007

Blacktown City Council's 2008 Community Calendar is being delivered to residents now!

The popular annual Blacktown City Council Community Calendar is currently being delivered to residents across the Blacktown Local Government Area.

The 2008 community calendar 'Our Community, Your Council' takes residents on a tour through Council's services, facilities and programs.

Council employs over 1,600 people spread across several directorates, including planning and development, community services, environmental and recreation services, technical transport services, and finance and corporate strategy. It is under each of these banners that Council provides library and recreational services, participates in road safety programs, manages our local environment, creates a tourism hub for visitors and much more to the resident. The 2008 community calendar demonstrates that Council's business extends far beyond the traditional areas of Roads, Rates and Rubbish!

"In basing our calendar around our services, we hope that our community will have a greater understanding of the variety of roles Council plays within the community and that it will also showcase ways the community can get involved," Mayor of Blacktown City, Councillor Leo Kelly, OAM said.

The calendar also highlights a number of initiatives and programs that are underway across the Local Government Area that residents previously may not have been aware of, all of which contribute to the foundations of Blacktown City.

The 2008 Calendar is also a valuable source of information, including the names and contact details of Blacktown City's Councillors, a brief history of our City, important telephone numbers for Council services and an events listing for 2008.

A community 'Honour Roll' is located in the back pages of the 2008 Calendar to recognise members of the Blacktown City Community who have delivered outstanding community service or performed outstanding achievements in sport, education, arts, etc.

"I am sure that the residents of Blacktown City will be pleased to see the Calendar arrive as it is always popular with our community," Mayor Kelly said.

Blacktown City Council thanks the many people within our local community who committed their time and contributed to the 2008 Community Calendar.

Residents are reminded to be patient with the delivery of their calendar. It is anticipated that Council's community calendar will be delivered to every household in the Blacktown Local Government Area (96,000) by the first week of December, weather permitting. It should also be noted that community calendars will be left next to the base of letterboxes.

If residents would like additional copies of the calendar (there are limited additional copies available) they can be collected from Council's Administrative Building, 62 Flushcombe Road, Blacktown, or by phoning Council on 9839 6000.
