Celebrate 08 - Blacktown City Festival Street Parade - May 31, 2008
The Mayor of Blacktown City, Councillor Leo Kelly, OAM announced the winners of the 2008 Blacktown City Festival Street Parade at Council's meeting on Wednesday, July 9, 2008.
The Street Parade had over 60 floats, marching bands and entertainers that took to the streets of Blacktown's CBD on May 31, 2008. The parade was a celebration Blacktown's diverse culture and community achievements.
The winners of the Street Parade were;
Champion Community Entry
Winner: Falun Dafa
Champion Commercial Entry
Winner: The Demons Sports Club
Champion School
Winner: Nagle College
Champion Band
Winner: Blacktown City Brass Band
Each of the Champions received a plaque in recognition of their efforts and a cash prize.
"Congratulations to all the winners of the 2008 Blacktown City Festival Parade. The amount of effort and dedication that goes into producing a parade entry is outstanding, and I know on Festival Day the Blacktown City community are very appreciative of their effort".
Many community groups, schools and local businesses got right behind the spirit of the Blacktown City Festival", Mayor Kelly continued.
Entries for the 2009 Blacktown City Festival Street Parade will be open in early 2009. Residents are encouraged to keep an eye out for details about how they can get involved.
