2012 Youth Ambassador Nominations now open!

Wednesday, February 8, 2012

Nominations are now opening for the prestigious role as one of Blacktown City's Youth Ambassadors for 2012. Students aged between 15 and 18 years are eligible to serve as Ambassadors for our City's youth for a period of twelve months.

The two young people who are selected are given the opportunity to represent the youth of our City by way of public speaking at events such as Citizenship Ceremonies and Civic Receptions. It also provides the opportunity to meet high profile individuals at Special Events and attend a Local Government related Conference, which assists the Youth Ambassadors in gaining an understanding of the way in which Local Government can work so effectively.

Attending the Local Government Conference also encourages our Youth Ambassadors to exchange ideas and participate in exciting networking opportunities.

"The Youth Ambassador program is a wonderful opportunity for young people in Blacktown City to play an active role in representing the youth in their community. We have had some wonderful young people take part in the program which is why the program has been so successful since 1982," Mayor of Blacktown City, Councillor Alan Pendleton said.

"I believe the experience gained from this program will become invaluable for the student's future endeavours and is something I recommend young people apply for."

For further information on the Youth Ambassador program visit www.blacktown.nsw.gov.au or contact Council's Community Events Team on 9839 6000.

Applications close Friday, February 24, 2012.
