Thursday, August 9, 2007

Blacktown Aquatic Centre's fitness program Heartmoves will celebrate its 3rd birthday on Monday, August 20, 2007 from 11am -12noon with a themed Heartmoves class and lunch for participants.

Blacktown Aquatic Centre is considered one of the most successful Heartmoves Centres in Australia offering the low to moderate intensity exercise class five times a week.

Heartmoves is designed to be safe for people with stable long term health conditions such as heart disease or diabetes. Classes can help lower blood pressure, improve cholesterol control, manage weight and diabetes, improve balance, help with arthritis management and improve the overall quality of life.

The Heartmoves class has expanded from one class a week to five classes a week with participation rates increasing to over 80 local residents each week.

The Heartmoves team was recently invited by the Heart Foundation to perform a demonstration Heartmoves class on the main stage of the FILEX Fitness Convention in April.

The FILEX Convention is one of the world's leading educational conventions presenting the latest research on fitness related topics delivered by an array of presenters from both Australia and around the world. The Expo provides both industry related professionals and the general public with the chance to see the latest in fitness equipment, nutritional products, fitness classes and gather health related information.

Blacktown Aquatic Centre's class was chosen as part of The Heart Foundation's efforts at the Expo to promote good heart health and to educate people about the Heartmoves program.

Heartmoves classes are held at Blacktown Aquatic Centre, Boyd Street, Blacktown, 5 times per week. Classes are $6.50 each. For further information on Heartmoves or any of the classes available at Blacktown Aquatic Centre please phone 9622 2279.
