Charity Bowls Day raise over $1,300 for Cancer Council Relay for Life

Tuesday, October 7, 2008

The Blacktown City Charity Bowls Day came alive on Sunday, September 24, 2008 with over 50 locals turning up to play two-hours of bowls and raising over $1,300.

The day was organised by the Blacktown City Relay for Life Committee as one of the many fundraising activities held throughout the year to raise money for cancer research.

Despite the weather conditions and the grey skies the day went well with many of the participants kicking off their shoes and playing in their socks, while learning new skills and gaining tips from experienced bowlers.

Afterwards their was a monster chocolate wheel and a lucky few won some fantastic prizes thanks to the generosity and support of Blacktown City Bowls Club and numerous local businesses.

Over $1,300 was raised throughout the day for the Cancer Council's Relay for Life tally, from which all money will be donated to cancer research.
