Congratulations to the winners of the 2009 Ratepayer Rewards Scheme

The Mayor of Blacktown City, Councillor Charlie Lowles, announced the winners of Council's 2009 Ratepayer Rewards Scheme including the first prize winner of a $20,000 Solar City Household package after drawing their names out of a barrel last Monday, September 14, 2009 at Council.

The major winners will be presented with their prizes at a special morning tea on Monday September 28, 2009 at 10.30am in Council's Porirua Room, Council Chambers, 62 Flushcombe Road, Blacktown.

Almost 12,000 Blacktown City ratepayers that paid their rates in full by August 31, had their names put in a barrel draw for the opportunity to win some fantastic prizes thanks to the support of local businesses and Council.

This year's winners and their prizes are as follows. A morning tea to present the prizes to the winners will be held on September 28 at 10:30am;

  • First Prize - T Gauci & M Formosa of Acacia Gardens

Solar City Household Package that includes a supply and installation of a Solar Electricity System, Solar Hot Water and Home Energy Audit valued at $20,000.

Gift Voucher to the value of $3,000 covering purchase of goods.

"Congratulations to this year's winners and a thank you to all of the 2009 Rates Incentive Scheme sponsors who gave our City's residents the opportunity to win some fantastic prizes simply by paying their rates in full", Mayor of Blacktown City, Councillor Charlie Lowles said.

Major Sponsors of the Ratepayer Rewards scheme include: Blacktown Solar City, Karl Holdsworth - The Good Guys, Prospect, Breakaway Travel, Matilda Cruises, Blacktown Workers Club, Blacktown Leisure Centre, Stanhope, McDonalds Restaurants, Blacktown Swimming Centres and Emerton Leisure Centre.

* Blacktown Solar City is a $37 million project funded by the Australian Government as part of its Solar Cities initiative. The Blacktown Solar City Consortium includes BP Solar, Integral Energy, ANZ, Landcom, Big Switch Projects and Blacktown City Council. A partnership between government, industry and the community, the project will help residents and businesses in the Blacktown City community change the way they think about and use energy. Blacktown Solar City offers residents the opportunity to install and finance discounted solar power systems, retrofit their homes with insulation and undertake home energy audits. Businesses can also participate by installing solar electricity systems on their premises and undertaking energy efficiency programs.
