“Early Days” - Calling On Young Talent

Young residents of Mt Druitt and Rooty Hills areas show your artistic talent.

Young artists aged between 5 and 17 living or going to school in the Mt Druitt and Rooty Hill areas are being encouraged enter an artwork into the upcoming Youth Art Exhibition "Early Days" at Emerton Youth Recreation Centre from November 6 - 11, 2008.

The exhibition will be hosted by Emerton Youth Recreation Centre and is a great stepping stone for young artists living in Mount Druitt and Rooty Hill to have their artworks displayed.

Categories open for entries in 2008 include Visual Art, Photography and 3D Creative Art. Prizes will also be awarded for the following new open prize categories - Indigenous Art, Environmental Art and Street Art.

"Early Days' is a fantastic experience which helps young people gain confidence in their artistic abilities," Mayor of Blacktown City, Councillor Leo Kelly, OAM said.

"It also gives young people the opportunity to express themselves through their artwork, encourages community pride whilst having their artworks publicly displayed for friends, family and the community", Mayor Kelly said.

Council is encouraging young people from a range of art levels, local schools, community and art groups to participate by submitting their pieces for display, entries into Early Days will be open until Friday, October 24, 2008.

Local residents are also invited to come and support the young talents of their community by attending the exhibition between November 6 - 11, 2008.
