Mt Druitt Swimming Centre opens its pools to a fiesta of Trout
The annual Blacktown Family Fish-In is on again, and this year, the trout are as hungry as ever. The annual Blacktown City Family Fish-In is on again from Friday, August 1 to Sunday, August 3, 2008. You and your family can enjoy this unique fishing experience with set times that have been arranged to maximise each fisherperson's opportunity of getting a bite!
Around 400 Salmon Trout will become game to all fishing enthusiasts right in the heart of Mount Druitt.
From the pure mountain waters of Sandy Waterfall Creek, on the Goobragandra River just outside of Tumut, to the waters of Mount Druitt Swimming Centre, Mount Street, Mount Druitt ? these trout are ready to bite.
Those who consider themselves a professional fisherperson can test their skills against former Australian Indoor Casting Champion, Todd Young at the Fish In. Todd will demonstrate the art of casting over the three days and will also be available to offer advice to budding amateurs.
"Now in its 20th year, the Family Fish-In offers an exciting and fun opportunity for the whole family. Around 400 Rainbow and Golden Trout will become game to all fishing enthusiasts right in the heart of Western Suburbia.
Once again, in the true spirit of competition, only hook and bait are allowed. No sinkers or lures are permitted. Each fisherperson may catch a limit of 4 fish per person per session," Mayor of Blacktown City, Councillor Leo Kelly, OAM said.
There will be loads of prizes up for grabs thanks to Anaconda, Fish on Australia, Atlantic Seafood's at Westfield, Mount Druitt, Westpoint Blacktown, McDonalds Mt Druitt.
Thanks to the major sponsor of the Family Fish-In; Easts Holiday Parks, who will give participants the chance to win 1 of 12 family holidays at the famous East Holiday Parks located along the NSW South Coast.
Prepaid bookings are essential after Monday, July 14, 2008. To book your spot contact Council on 9839 6273. Entry to the pool is free, however for those who wish to fish, there is a small charge. (Adults $11.00 & Children under 15 years $5.50 ? per one hour session).
