Friday, September 14, 2007
The Blacktown City Community Development and Support Expenditure (CDSE) Local Committee is handing $442,654.68 to non-profit community groups in the Blacktown City Local Government Area for 2007. The successfully funded organisations will be invited to a special ceremony at 10.00am on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at Blacktown Workers Club, Campbell Street, Blacktown.
The CDSE funding will assist 59 organisations with new equipment, new projects and/or supplement their existing projects/programs provided to the community (successfully funded organisations are listed on the following page).
Blacktown City Council established the CDSE Local Committee in 2001 to assist in the allocation of funds from clubs to the community. The Committee is comprised of eight local participating clubs as well as representatives from the Department of Community Services, Western Sydney Area Health Service, the Western Sydney Regional Information & Research Service and Blacktown City Council. The participating clubs are: Blacktown Workers Club Ltd, City of Blacktown RSL Club Ltd, Demons Sports Club, Riverstone Schofields Memorial Club Ltd, Rooty Hill RSL Club Ltd, Seven Hills Toongabbie RSL Club Ltd, Mt Druitt Workers Club and St Marys Rugby Leagues Club.
This year the Blacktown City CDSE Local Committee received 155 applications for funding. Applications addressed a range of community welfare and social services; community development; community health and employment assistance services. Applications ranged across the entire community including young people, families, women, children, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, older people and people from culturally and linguistically diverse background.
"The CDSE Local Committee continues to grow each year and I am pleased that the local Clubs are still strong in their support and contributions towards the local community of Blacktown City", Chairperson of the CDSE Local Committee, Mayor of Blacktown City, Councillor Leo Kelly, OAM said.
CDSE Funding will be available again in 2008. Further information can be obtained by contacting Blacktown City Council on 9839 6000 or by visiting the Clubs NSW website www.clubsnsw.com.au
