Blacktown City will celebrate Refugee Week between June 17 - 23, 2007, with three events being held across the Blacktown City Local Government Area offering entertainment and an opportunity for the community to learn about other traditions and teachings.
Refugee Week has been celebrated in Australia since the 1980s and focuses on creating awareness of local, national and international issues affecting refugees. It is also a time to celebrate the contribution refugees make to our community and coincides with World Refugee Day on Wednesday, June 20.
Three events will take place throughout Blacktown City during Refugee Week, June 17 - 23, 2007;
Peace Forum - Growing Peace in Blacktown
When: Wednesday, June 20, 2007
Where: Bowman Hall, Campbell Street, Blacktown
Time: 7 - 9pm

- Christian and Muslim speakers will share their respective beliefs, traditions and teachings on peace and harmony that each extends to all mankind.
- Come along, listen, learn and ask questions and in doing so help create a dialogue to promote peace and harmony through mutual understanding.
Voices of Young Refugees
