2007 Blacktown City Relay for Life Golf Day at Ashlar Golf Course, Blacktown.
Over $8,000 has been raised for cancer research at the 2007 Blacktown City Relay for Life Golf Day on Friday, May 25, 2007 at Ashlar Golf Course, Blacktown. The charity golf day officially kicked off the fundraising campaign for the 2007 Blacktown City Relay for Life, which will take place over the October 27 - 28 weekend at Blacktown Olympic Park.
Over 33 teams took to the course in a 4-ball ambrose competition, raising $8,000 in total through hole sponsorship, raffle tickets, drink and food sales and golf participation on the day. All money raised will be added to the Blacktown City Relay for Life tally and donated to cancer research.
"The day was perfect, we couldn't have asked for better weather for a golf day. The atmosphere on the course was sensational, everyone was in high spirits and having a great game of golf", Relay for Life Committee Chairperson, Peter Filmer said.
Special thanks to the hole sponsors and raffle sponsors for the day that included; Blacktown City Council, Karl Holdsworth Good Guys at Prospect, Sydney Credit Union, WSFM, Sydney Wide Party Hire, Westpoint Shopping Centre, Blacktown, Blacktown Workers Club, Award Trophy Sales, J Lock Locksmiths, Toongabbie Cellars, Multi-Fill, Len Robinson Strata Management Group, Russ Dickens Veterinary, Sargents PIES, Ashlar Golf Club and PGF Golf.
"The day would not have been possible without the great support of the businesses and community in Blacktown City. A huge thank you must be extended to the staff at Ashlar Golf Course for their continued support of the Relay for Life by allowing the golf course to be used for such a worthwhile cause and event", The Cancer Council's Blacktown City Relay for Life Coordinator, Belinda Brennan said.
The Relay for Life is a great community event, which brings together people from all walks of life for the purpose of raising desperately needed funds for cancer research.
The 2007 Blacktown City Relay for Life will take place over the October 27 - 28 weekend at Blacktown Olympic Park. Residents, community groups, businesses and schools are encouraged to become a part of this community fundraising event. Billed as a 'Team Event to Fight Cancer', the Relay will involve teams of 10 to 15 people taking turns to walk laps around their local oval. Relay for Life is an overnight event - enabling walkers to come and go as they please, or pitch a tent next to the track and stay the night.
In the past 4 years, the Blacktown City Relay for Life has raised over $500,000 and is renowned as the highest earning Relay for Life event in New South Wales.
