Meet the men from the award-winning documentary The Imam and the Pastor

Local residents will have the opportunity to share the extraordinary experience of the award winning documentary film; The Imam and the Pastor and to meet the two men featured in the film, in a special forum to be held in the Bowman Hall (Campbell Street), Blacktown on Thursday, November 13 2008 from 7pm.

The film; The Imam and the Pastor is about Imam Muhammad Ashafa and Pastor James Wuye who were mortal enemies leading opposing armed militias in the ethnic and religious conflicts that rocked Nigeria in the 1990s. Thousands were killed and whole communities devastated.

The film is the story of how these two men transformed and became the co-directors of the

Muslim-Christian Interfaith Mediation Centre in their city of Kaduna, Northern Nigeria, leading

task-forces to resolve conflict across the country. It tracks the amazing success they have had in bringing the Muslin and Christian communities together to share a peaceful coexistence.

The film was launched at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, 18 months ago and has since been shown in the House of Commons, London and in many other parts of the world, and now it has come to Australia.

The screening on Thursday, November 13 will be chaired by well-known media personality Mike Bailey and will feature the 40-minute film followed by the opportunity to speak with Imam Ashafa and Pastor James.

The evening is FREE to attend, however bookings are essential by calling 9839 6000.

The event is co-sponsored by Blacktown City Council, Initiatives of Change, the Catholic Diocese of Parramatta, and the Islamic Friendship Association of Australia.
