Mount Druitt Lights Up for Christmas!

*Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas*

Blacktown City Council will once again get into the Christmas spirit on Thursday, November 15, 2007 when it lights up it's very own Christmas Tree in Dawson Mall, Mount Druitt (next to Westfield Mount Druitt) from 6.00pm.

Local residents are encouraged to bring along their families and friends, to enjoy the FREE evening of entertainment in a special 'Turn on the Lights' function. 'Turn on the Lights' will feature a carols concert and a special guest appearance by Santa, who will help the Mayor of Blacktown City, Councillor Leo Kelly, OAM turn on the Christmas Tree lights at 8.30pm.

The soon to be installed Christmas Tree will sit on a one metre base and stand close to 6 metres high and will be decorated with Christmas decorations and multi-coloured fairy lights.

'Turn on the Lights' is the beginning of Council's Christmas program this year and includes the Blacktown City Mayoress Christmas Appeal, the Blacktown 'Turn on the Lights' function on the Civic Plaza (November 22), the Blacktown City Decorated Homes Competition and in conjunction with Westpoint Blacktown; Carols under the Stars on December 1.

"This is a great way for our City to get into the Christmas spirit. It's a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together and share their Christmas spirit", Mayor of Blacktown City, Councillor Leo Kelly, OAM said.

In addition to the City's Christmas program, Council will be installing 260 Christmas banners across the City. The banners will feature contemporary Christmas designs and a traditional Nativity scene representing the birth of Christ. It is expected all the banners will be installed by Friday, November 23.
