Blacktown City Council has allocated over $560,000 for the construction of an additional playing field at Glenwood Reserve, Forman Avenue, Glenwood.

The addition of a playing field is currently in the concept plan stage, which included a site analysis and investigations, consultation and a flora and fauna study.

The proposed works to be carried out for the additional playing field at Glenwood Reserve include:

  • Construction of an additional playing field
  • Irrigation to the playing field including installation of a water storage tank
  • Construction of a retaining wall in the south-east corner of proposed playing field
  • Creation of vegetation zones
  • Installation of 10 nesting boxes into mature trees on the site
  • Additional tree planting

"The addition of this playing field will cater for Glenwood Soccer Club, who use Glenwood Reserve as their training and home ground", Deputy Mayor of Blacktown City, Councillor Michelle Rowland said.

"The additional playing field when complete will complement the existing sporting facilities already in Glenwood Reserve and create a great recreation spot in an area that is surrounded by a number of emerging suburbs with young families", Councillor Rowland continued.

The concept plan for the additional playing field is currently open for comment from neighbouring residents. Following receipt of feedback, final plans and documentation will be developed to enable construction to commence in mid 2009.
