It almost Christmas, with less than 8 weeks to go, Blacktown City Council is calling on all Blacktown City residents to get into the festive spirit by nominating a neighbour, friend or residents for the 2009 Blacktown City Decorate Your Home Christmas Competition.
Proudly supported by Elf Help, Blacktown RSL and Westpoint Blacktown, the event is expected to have an estimated 80 homes throughout the Blacktown City Local Government Area nominated.
"The Decorate Your Home Christmas Competition is an opportunity for the local community to decorate their homes for their festive season and it's also a great opportunity for the local community to go Christmas light watching in their local area', Mayor of Blacktown City, Councillor Charlie Lowles said.
The 2009 competition will have up to $8,000 worth of prizes to be won and residents who nominate their neighbour's display will go in the draw to win some a great prize.
Residents can also make 2009, the year to reduce their Christmas carbon footprint by entering the Most Environmentally-Friendly Display. This category focuses on the use of sustainable or recycled materials and eco-friendly lights for your display.
If you see someone who captures the Christmas Spirit by decorating their home, nominate them for the 2009 Blacktown City Decorated Your Home Competition. For a nomination form or more information contact Council on 9839 6000 or visit www.blacktown.nsw.gov.au. Get in quick as entries close on Friday, December 4, 2009
Mystery judges will visit properties between Monday, December 7 and Friday, December 11.
Residents will be able to view the winners of the competition on Council's website www.blacktown.nsw.gov.au from Tuesday, December 22, 2009.
