2010 marks the 200th birthday of the suburb of Riverstone

Blacktown City Council, Riverstone Families Connect and Riverstone Youth Centre are encouraging local students to enter a Poster Competition as part of the activities and events being planned to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the suburb of Riverstone.

Students are encouraged to design a poster that reflects the theme; Riverstone - the first 200 years that can be used for the promotion of events and activities as part of the anniversary celebrations.

Riverstone Families Connect is coordinating entries from local primary school and Riverstone Youth Centre is coordinating entries from local high schools.

Entries will close on 30 November, 2009 and will be judged by 7 December, 2009. The designs from the winning entries will be used as the overall design for the promotion of the Bicentenary.

A local Committee chaired by Councillor Alan Pendleton has been formed to establish the full program for events and activities to mark this important historical milestone.

Keep an eye out in your local papers and on Councils' website regarding the 2010 program of events commemorating the 200th anniversary of Riverstone.

Many of the commemorative events and activities events will be centred around the Riverstone Festival that will be held on Saturday 15 May, 2009.
