Tickets on Sale for Sports Awards Gala Presentation

Blacktown's finest sports stars will be acknowledged for their efforts throughout 2011 at the Blacktown City Sports Awards Gala Presentation.

Tickets are now on sale for the prestigious event which will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Blacktown RSL, Second Ave, Blacktown.

Winners will be announced over eight major award categories including Sportsperson of the Year, The Mayoral Shield, under 12 Encouragement Award, Sports Administrator of the Year, Coach of the Year, Junior Sportsperson of the Year, Volunteer of the Year and Team of the Year.

Guests can also look forward to a presentation from Australian cricketing legend Max Walker, who will highlight his extraordinary cricket career and his inspiring journey from schoolboy sporting sensation to one of the most recognisable faces and voices in Australian sporting history.

"The Blacktown City Sports Awards Presentation is a fantastic way to acknowledge the diverse talent within our city and the fantastic contributions these athletes make to our community," Mayor of Blacktown City, Councillor Alan Pendleton said.

"Congratulations and thank you to all the nominees and everyone involved in the 2011 Sports Awards - each and every one of you is a true inspiration and embodies exactly what this great city is all about."

Blacktown City Council's Sports Awards Program has been operating since 1983, recognising the city's sports men, women, boys and girls. It involves people of all ages and levels of competition and promotes sports and sporting clubs within the community. The 2011 Sports Person of the Year winner will take home prize money of $3,000 as well as hold the prestigious title for the next 12 months.

Limited tickets are now on sale, prices are as follows:

  • $40 for Adults 18 years and over (3 course meal)
  • $30 for Students 13-17 years (3 course meal)
  • $20 for Children 12 years and under (2 course children's meal)
