Book A Household Clean Up

It is a condition when using the Household Cleanup Service that the user accepts and obeys the requirements Council has listed below.

Failure to comply with Council's Cleanup requirements may incur a penalty of up to $750 under the Protection of the Environment and Operations Act 1997, as this material will be considered to be illegally placed in a public area.

Terms and Conditions of Use

You must be living at the property on the date of the collection.

Cleanup collections are limited to one small box trailer load. Items are to be presented in a neat and tidy condition. All loose items must be boxed, bagged bundled or tied and be manageable by one person.

  • Doors must be tied or removed from fridges or you can lay fridges down with the doors facing the ground
  • Do not break up large furniture items
  • Furniture such as cupboards must be empty
  • Carpet must be rolled and tied in lengths no longer than 1.5 metres
  • Tree clippings must be tied in bundles, no longer than 1.5 metres and no more than 10cm in diameter
  • Thorny branches such as Bougainvilleas or Roses must be wrapped so they are not a hazard to collection staff

Council does not collect:

  • Oil or paints
  • Liquid wastes or chemicals
  • Car bodies, tyres, batteries or car parts including doors, bonnets or bumpers
  • Asbestos containing material
  • Building materials including tiles, bricks, wood or guttering
  • Chicken wire, wire netting or fencing
  • Concrete or cement/masonry
  • Windows, mirrors, crockery or ceramics
  • Bulk cardboard
  • Tree trunks or stumps (10cm or more in diameter)
  • Industrial metals
  • Gas cylinders
  • Should you want to dispose of those items, contact WSN on 1300 651 116 or Blacktown Waste Services on 9835 4544.

Items to be collected should be placed neatly on your front kerb - or if you live in a townhouse or unit complex, near where you normally leave your garbage bin for collection - the night before your collection date. This is done to keep your street looking tidy and to prevent rubbish from being added to your cleanup.

REMEMBER: Council will not collect items if they are placed out incorrectly. If items are left on the footpath area, you will be asked to remove them and return them to your property within 24hours. If you are uncertain of what items are collected, please contact Blacktown City Council's Information Centre on 9839 6000.

Council staff will notify you as soon as possible, via email and mail, of the booking date once a booking has been made in your name. You will be notified if a booking has not been made, should your request not meet any of the conditions outlined above.
