Household Waste

Blacktown City Council provides a weekly household garbage collection service which is available to all residences within the Local Government Area.
Your waste bin has a green or red lid. To meet the Australian Standard AS 4123, Council is replacing green bin lids with red lids. Eventually, all waste bins will have a red lid.
Please ring 9839 6000 to find out the collection day in your street.
This service is for the collection of household waste, so remember....
  • No building materials, rocks, concrete and soil
  • No car parts and batteries
  • No gas cylinders
  • No medical waste
  • No needles and syringes
  • No materials that can be recycled
To reduce the potential for bin vandalism and to keep the City looking good, it is a requirement of this service to put your bin out the night before or early on the day your collection is due. After the bins have been emptied, it is necessary to return all bins to a storage area on your property on the same day of collection.
Where bins are continuously left on the footpath, a fee may be charged for the return of your bin to your property.
Contact Council on 9839 6000 if your bin is damaged or stolen. This is a free service.

What Happens to My Waste?

Your waste is processed at a Waste Processing Facility called the UR-3R at Eastern Creek. UR-3R stands for Urban Resource- Reduction, Recovery and Recycling. At the UR-3R facility, waste is separated. It turns food and garden waste into compost. Items that can be recycled such as metals and some types of plastics are recovered and sent to be remanufactured.
