Both the private and public sector have chosen to locate in Blacktown for its location, ease of access, skilled workforce and its reputation as a place to do business.

Supporting the local economy is a labour force with the skills, education and entrepreneurial talent to sustain a highly advanced and specialised market. Our young people in particular have the education and skills to fill local employment opportunities across a broad spectrum of industries, business services and vocational occupations.

Blacktown City offers specialised employment centres that are easy to access and provide multiple synergies with learning institutions that foster innovation and economic growth. Secondary and tertiary institutions play a vital role in leading the development of this highly skilled region by providing relevant training and education for the economy. This in turn offers lifelong learning opportunities which are embraced with a high rate of participation by our community.

• Ensure major employment centres in the City are easily accessed by workers through the provision of quality transport, communications infrastructure and business support services.
• Foster business services and knowledge-based industries in Blacktown City through the development of two CBDs.
• Develop specialised industry clusters by encouraging related businesses to collaborate with each other and with research, educational and government organisations.
• Ensure the development of industry clusters that create and retain local wealth and income in the City by drawing export income to the Blacktown economy.
