A sporting City
2025 Statement - Where we will be
Blacktown City is the recognised sporting capital of Western Sydney. The range of sporting opportunities available within our City is diverse, with wide-ranging recreational opportunities, including international standard elite competition venues. Visitors from all over Australia and the Asia-Pacific come to Blacktown because of its many great sporting venues and to attend events held here each year.
Our families participate in some form of sporting code or activity, creating a healthy and fit community. A significant number of well known athletes and sports people come from the City, a fact attributed to the rich sporting opportunities offered to residents early in life.
Blacktown City has several major sporting precincts, including the nationally recognised Blacktown Motor Sport Parklands at Eastern Creek and the Blacktown Olympic Park at Rooty Hill. These facilities have made Blacktown City a recognised centre of excellence in motor sport and ball sports respectively.
The AFL NSW/ACT Western Sydney Development Team has established a 'home' at Blacktown Olympic Park. Blacktown Olympic Park is also home to NSW Baseball, Softball NSW, the International Goalkeepers Academy and premier athletics facilities and continues to be the centre of sporting excellence and opportunity in Western Sydney.
Blacktown Olympic Park is the home of the second Sydney AFL team. The City enjoys solid partnerships with AFL and Cricket NSW and has established strong financial commitments with each party to ensure enduring first-class facilities for future generations.
