Announcement of the Sportsperson of the Year
Blacktown City is gearing up to host the 2009 Sportsperson of the Year Gala Presentation Night on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at the Mt Druitt Workers Club. Over 50 of Blacktown's top athletes will be present on the night from across a wide range of sports.
This year, special guest speaker on the night will be Rugby League legend, Peter Sterling, OAM, popular sports commentator and former Parramatta Eels Rugby League player.
The presentation will see the announcement of the awards in seven categories; Coach of the Year, Team of the Year, Under 12 Encouragement Award, Sports Administrator of the Year, Junior Sportsperson of the Year, 2009 Sportsperson of the Year and for the first time, Volunteer of the Year.
Blacktown City Council's Sports Awards Program has been operating since 1983, recognising our City's sports men, women, boys and girls. It involves people of all ages and levels of competition and promotes sports and sporting clubs within the community.
Tickets to the Gala Presentation are now available from Council. Tickets are limited and bookings essential. For more information, contact Council on 9839 6000.

Council will launch Blacktown City's 2009-10 Visitor Guide this month. The Visitor Guide will be delivered to each letterbox in Blacktown City and offers a great range of information on the local area and things to do in our City.
Keep an eye for your Visitor Guide, which will be handy to have the next time your relatives and friends come and visit you.
For more information on the full range of facilities and activities taking place in Blacktown City and the surrounding regions, visit the Blacktown Visitor Information and Heritage Centre located on Flushcombe Road, Blacktown (opposite the Max Webber Library). The Centre is open Tues - Sat, 10am - 3pm.
