Blacktown City welcomes the NRL All Stars to Western Sydney

I had the honour of welcoming the 2011 NRL All Stars to Western Sydney last Monday, February 7, when the team and their coach Mr Wayne Bennett made a special appearance at the St Marys Stadium.

The All Stars team consists of some of Australia's current elite rugby league players such as Benji Marshall and Nathan Hindmarsh. The All Stars hosted a series of ARL development sessions with 200 school children from across Western Sydney on the day.

The visit was a great boost for the sport in Western Sydney. NRL has a large following in Western Sydney and the opportunity for our community to watch the stars train was an exciting experience.

World's Greatest Shave

The World's Greatest Shave is on again from March 10 - 12. Whether you're at school, work or home, shave or colour your hair to raise funds for one of Australia biggest fundraising events.

I encourage all residents to get behind this cause. Every hour, someone in Australia is diagnosed with leukaemia, lymphomas or myeloma.

The money raised goes towards to the Leukaemia Foundation to fund services to support patients and families living with leukaemias, lymphomas, myeloma and related blood disorders.

For further information contact the Leukaemia Foundation on 1800 500 088 or visit the website www.worldsgreatestshave.com.
