Celebrate NAIDOC Week in Blacktown City

NAIDOC Week celebrations will take place across Blacktown City from July 6 - 13 with a series of FREE events, including a Koori Family Fun Day at Blacktown Arts Centre on Saturday, July 12, 2008.

NAIDOC celebrations are held to acknowledge the achievements and provide insights and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people's history and culture.

Get ready for the Westlink M7 Cities Marathon - entries still open

It's time for serious athletes in Western Sydney to register for the 2008 'Westlink M7 Cities Marathon' on Sunday, July 27, 2008.

The internationally accredited 42.195km marathon will have a prize pool of $50,000 thanks to the generosity of naming rights sponsor Westlink M7 Motorway.

Entry into the Marathon is $80 and entrants must be over 18 years old. Entry forms, course maps and race information can be accessed on http://www.wm7citiesmarathon.com.au/ or by contacting Council on 9839 6000.

Celebrate 100 Years of Scouting

2008 marks 100 years of Scouting in Australia and residents are encouraged to support the many contributions Scouts provide to the local community by joining them on Sunday, June 29 at Scouts Headquarters, 6 Baden Powell Place, Winston Hills between 10am - 3pm.

On the day, over 30 different activities will be on offer, including a giant slide, climbing wall, jumping castle, flying fax, stalls and more from local Scouts groups.
