Congratulations to Blacktown City’s Australia Day Award winners
Congratulations to Robert Smith of Blacktown, who was named Blacktown City's Citizen of the Year, and Phi Nuyen of Blacktown, who was named Blacktown City's Young Citizen of the Year during Council's Australia Day celebrations on Tuesday, January 26, 2010.
Robert was announced Citizen of the Year in recognition of his tireless contribution as a volunteer and fundraiser in the local community and his long term membership of the Rotary Club of Blacktown City.
Phi Nuyen was named Blacktown City's Young Citizen of the Year for his achievements in the world of music. In October 2009, Phi sat for an exam with the Australian Music Examination Board to receive a Diploma in piano. Not only did Phi pass, he received a distinction at the age of 12.
Congratulations to all both Robert and Phi on their achievements.
Community invited to celebrate Riverstone's Bicentenary this weekend
The town of Riverstone will launch its Bicentenary program this Sunday, February 7 from 11am with the official opening of the extensions to the Blacktown City Bicentennial Museum and a community picnic.
The Bicentennial Museum located on Garfield Road, Riverstone will feature Riverstone memorabilia and a large range of historical features and artefacts from the local areas past.
The official opening will be followed by a community picnic in Lions Park, adjacent to the Bicentennial Museum. I encourage the local community to come along to this great day which will feature live entertainment, community members can either pack a picnic to enjoy or enjoy a sausage sizzle by the Riverstone Lions Club.
The official opening and community picnic is just one of the many celebratory events planned for Riverstone's Bicentenary. For future event details, visit www.blacktown.nsw.gov.au or call 9839 6000.
