Two art exhibitions will open this week in Blacktown City

Early Days featuring aspiring artists from Mount Druitt and Rooty Hill will be on exhibition at Emerton Youth Recreation Centre (Copeland Road, Emerton), from this Thursday 22 September until Tuesday 27 September.

This is the ninth year Early Days has exhibited and will feature artworks in the categories visual art, photography and creative 3D art.

The second exhibition is the Blacktown City Art Prize which will officially open to the public this Saturday 24 September at Blacktown Arts Centre (78 Flushcombe Road, Blacktown). A staggering 558 artworks have been entered into the prize from artists across New South Wales.

The opening on 24 September will coincide with the annual Blacktown Arts Market that will be held from 10am to 3pm at Blacktown Arts Centre featuring over 30 stalls showcasing the creative wares of artists and artisans from across the region.

All of these events are a great way to experience all the artistic talent that exists in our City and I encourage the local community to show their support of local arts and visit the exhibitions.

For more information and opening times on these art events visit www.blacktown.nsw.gov.au or call 9839 6000.
