Blacktown City welcomes Kevin Sheedy to Team GWS

I extend a warm welcome to newly appointed AFL coach, Mr Kevin Sheedy, following the AFL's announcement last Monday, 9 November 2009.

Mr Sheedy - a former AFL player for Richmond and premiership coach for Essendon for more than 27 years, was announced as the inaugural coach of Sydney's second AFL team in Western Sydney - Team GWS.

The second Sydney AFL team will join the national AFL competition in 2012 and will be based at Blacktown Olympic Park's $30 million Cricket/AFL facility in Rooty Hill.

Mr Sheedy has exceptional experience in working with diverse communities and I am sure will be a great addition to sports in the region.

It is an honour to have such an asset working within the community. He will make an excellent coach and a wonderful ambassador for the sport in Western Sydney.

Upcoming Events at Olympic Park
