Honouring the Volunteers of our City

It was a pleasure to attend the 2011 Volunteer Thank You Event held at Max Webber Library on Saturday 25 June. Volunteers from the Blacktown community were honoured by Council, with each volunteer receiving a commemorative volunteer lapel pin and a herb plant as a token of Council's appreciation.

Each year Council holds many community festivals, events, activities and programs that over 300 local volunteers actively participate in. The success of these events is largely in part to the valuable contribution of the City's volunteers.

Without the outstanding support that Council receives from its many volunteers, we simply could not undertake so many of the activities that have now become such an integral part of our lifestyle in our great City.

I am very proud that the Blacktown City community has such a strong volunteer ethic. I believe this reflects the goodwill, generosity and pride of the people of Blacktown City.

I would again like to thank all the Volunteers of Blacktown City for their assistance and help. If you would like to become a volunteer in Blacktown City contact Council today by telephone on 9839 6000.

Is it time for a Household clean-up?

I remind all residents that Council provides a Household Clean-up Collection Service to all Blacktown City residents that use the Household Garbage Collection Service.

The pick-up service allows any additional domestic waste that will not fit into your garbage bin or is not recyclable. The service can be used up to 12 times a year and there is no extra fee.

If you have booked a household clean-up make sure you place materials out in a neat and tidy manner on your nature strip the night before your booked collection is due.

Please remember not to block any footpath or driveway access.
