Council's Local Government Week Plant Giveaways are the perfect opportunity for our residents to collect free plants and get involved in the celebrations of Local Government Week. Council has a strong commitment to the greening of Blacktown City and these giveaways offer the local community a chance to beautify their gardens with the free plants.
Council's friendly Nursery staff will be on hand on Thursday to offer tips and advice on which plants will suit your garden.
More information about Council and the services available to residents is available on Council's website under the Residents section or by contacting Council on 9839 6000 for a Residents Kit.
Note: The Local Government Week Plant Giveaway in Blacktown took place on Tuesday 2 August.
Turning of sod at Blacktown Showground
I officially turned the first sod at Blacktown Showground on Thursday 28, July, marking the commencement of the $16 million stage one redevelopment works.
The sod turn comes after the Joint Regional Planning Panel approved the Development Application on 21 July for Stage 1 of the redevelopment of the Showground.
From next week, Council will commence stage one works on the site, with works starting on the western car park. Following on from that, stage one works will continue on to include the redevelopment of ovals one and two at Francis Park into quality passive and active recreational spaces.
Stage one of the redevelopment is anticipated to be completed by the end of September 2012.

Mayor of Blacktown City
