New and improved Kookaburra Playground
I am pleased to announce the completion of the new and exciting playground 'Kookaburra' at Nurragingy Reserve in Doonside for local families and visitors to Blacktown City to enjoy. The playground official opened on Sunday 6 November.
The playground is a result of a partnership between Council, Western Sydney Parklands and The Natural Confectionery Company and the new playground will complement Council's 300 plus playgrounds already provided throughout our City.
Nurragingy Reserve provides our community with a setting where children and their families can explore, adventure and play in a natural environment. This new and exciting upgrade of the Kookaburra Playground featuring mostly natural materials captures this theme and encourages children to take part in imaginative play.
I encourage families to visit the new playground.
New amenities building at Kareela Reserve
On Sunday 6 November I had the great pleasure of opening the brand new $1.6million amenities building at Kareela Reserve which is a joint venture between Landcom and Council.
The new two storey amenities building consists of changes rooms, toilets, stores, lift and a kiosk on the ground floor. The second floor features a meeting room with a kitchen, store and balcony seating.
The facility accommodates many sports throughout the City including rugby league, cricket, netball and little athletics. The facility is an ideal setting for the many community groups and schools in Blacktown City to utilise the space for a variety of purposes.
Kareela Reserve is home to a variety of local sporting groups including rugby league, netball, cricket and little athletics. As well as local sports groups, the reserve is also utilised by local schools in the area for school events.
