Business Administration Traineeships

The 12 month traineeship provides a combination of on the job work experience and one day per week attendance at TAFE completing a Certificate III in Business Administration.

Arts and Cultural Development (Arts Centre)
Motivated by arts and culture, but want to gain experience in business administration - become a trainee within the Arts and Cultural Development section!
As a trainee with the Arts and Cultural Development section, you will be based in Blacktown City Council's newly renovated Arts Centre. Your duties will include (but are not limited to) greeting customers of the Arts Centre, invoicing, preparing meetings, liaising with volunteers, completing front desk administration duties, organising catering/orders for events and mailing/filing. Additionally, an interest in the visual and performing arts, event/function management and/or customer service would be desirable.
Corporate Planning
If you are interested in pursuing a career that delivers strategic outcomes to a large and vibrant organisation then a corporate planning traineeship will provide you with an avenue to assist with the development of a budget in excess of $340 million, delivering services to over 300,000 people through our Integrated Planning and Reporting framework.
Covering a diverse range of subject matter and a broad spectrum of professional areas, this job will give you an excellent foundation on which to build a career in either government or the private sector.
Blacktown City Information Centre
We are looking for a trainee motivated to provide excellent customer service. Would you like to work in a challenging, supportive and fast-paced environment, however, varied and interesting at the same time? Then the customer service traineeship is for you!
As a trainee in the Blacktown City Information Centre (BCIC), you will be involved in providing customer service on the phone and face-to-face at Council's Information Counter. You will be greeting customers and assisting with their enquiries. You will learn customer service skills, how to deal with difficult situations, problem solving techniques and teamwork skills.
At the completion of the traineeship, Customer Service Trainees have a broad understanding of many operational and procedural aspects of Council as well as experience in handling customer enquiries at the largest Council in NSW.
Civil Maintenance
Want to provide business administration support to Council's Engineers, working on the maintenance of Council's roads - this may be the traineeship for you!
As a trainee in the Civil Maintenance Services section, your duties will consist of typing and mailing letters, answering and attending to customer enquiries, liaising with various employees throughout Council, following up on unpaid fees, data entry and maintenance of spreadsheets. You will be based in Council's Civic Centre where you will have the opportunity to work with a great team whilst developing your administration, PC, communication and teamwork skills.
Financial Services
Are you passionate about finance but want experience in business administration - this may be the traineeship for you!
As a trainee within the Financial Services section of Council, you may work between both the Accounts and Rates departments. Your duties may include answering telephone inquiries, monitoring rate accounts and other general administration duties. In addition, you will work closely with the Voucher Clerk who monitors outgoing payments of Council, you may process invoices for payment, liaise with creditors in regards to overdue payments, missing or incorrect invoices as well as assisting other staff members when required.
Learning & Development/Human Resources
If you want to work in a fun but challenging environment and you have an interest in Learning & Development or Human Resource Management then this traineeship is for you!
As a trainee in the Workforce Development Section, you will be working in Council's Civic Centre. You will play a hands-on role in the delivery of Council's Human Resources and Learning and Development functions including; responding to the enquiries of staff, assisting with recruitment and selection processing, processing work experience applications, preparing and organising training facilities and courses as well as assisting other employees in the section with general administration duties including mailing, filing and data entry.
Public Relations
Interest in media, marketing or events - become next year's public relations trainee!
As a trainee within the Public Relations section of Council, you may work between both the Events and Media Liaison departments. In the Events section of Council you may assist with responding to inquiries and the organisation of Council events. Within the Media Liaison section of Council you will assist in organising the publication of media announcements and job advertisements. Within both sections, general administrative duties will also be required. If you want to work in a fun and challenging environment, and you have an interest in public relations this is the traineeship for you!
