Get the site right
‘Get the Site Right’ enforces best practice soil erosion and sediment controls on building sites. It aims to protect our waterways. Sediment run-off can destroy aquatic habitats and smother native plants and animals.
Council officers patrol and undertake inspections to ensure that appropriate controls are in place. In line with the NSW Protection of Environment Operations Act 1997, if builders do not have these controls, they could be fined up to $8,000.
If you are developing or building, use methods in the checklist below to ensure that sediment stays on your site.
