Blacktown City Elder Abuse Prevention Collaborative
We convene the Collaborative which brings together representatives from the Police, Western Sydney Local Health District, the Seniors Rights Service, Western Sydney Community Forum, the Women’s Activities and Self Help (WASH) House, Blacktown Women’s and Girl’s Health Centre and a number of local agencies working with older people such as Great Community Transport, Blacktown Meals on Wheels, Gilgai Aboriginal Centre, Sri Om Care, Anglicare Dementia Advisory Service, Home Instead Senior Care to collaboratively build Blacktown City’s capacity to identify and respond to elder abuse, raise awareness to prevent abuse and empower victims.
We are working together with the Ageing and Disability Commission to better protect older people in Blacktown City and make community members and services aware of the signs of abuse as well as support available. We have developed local resources that you can download here(PDF, 721KB).
